What this is

Unusual options activity tracks which tickers are seeing outsized options trading relative to their normal pattern, measured by total notional value traded across calls and puts. A spike in notional on a name that doesn't normally see heavy options flow is often the first visible sign that positioning is building ahead of a catalyst, even before that catalyst is public. This page shows a delayed, truncated snapshot of the tickers currently ranked highest by that measure.

How to read it

Ranking is by total notional value traded (contracts times multiplier times premium), not by raw contract count, so a handful of expensive, large positions can outrank a much larger number of cheap, small ones, which is usually the more meaningful signal. Relative notional compares today's volume against the name's own trailing baseline, so a stock that normally trades options lightly can appear here even with a modest absolute total. Put percentage shows the share of that notional sitting in puts versus calls, which gives a rough directional tilt but is not a reliable standalone signal. Hedging flow and directional bets both show up as the same raw number. This list does not distinguish opening trades from closing trades, and it says nothing about whether the activity is informed.

FAQ

What counts as "unusual" here?

Ranking by total notional traded relative to typical volume for that ticker, not a fixed dollar threshold. A name that rarely sees options flow can rank highly on a moderate absolute total.

Does a high put percentage mean traders are bearish?

Not reliably. Puts get bought for hedging as often as for directional bets, and this snapshot can't distinguish the two. Treat the put/call split as a rough tilt, not a signal on its own.

Why is the list capped?

This is a delayed snapshot, not a live scanner. It shows the top-ranked names only, refreshed every few minutes.

Does this include which strikes or expirations were traded?

No, this page shows ticker-level aggregate notional only. It does not break out individual contracts, strikes, or expirations.

Informational only, not investment advice. Figures on this page are delayed by approximately 15 minutes, truncated to the top 15 rows, and refreshed periodically.
