Free to use · No account needed · The terminal itself still needs a trialWhat is Ask OpticAlpha?
A chat bubble in the corner of every page that answers stock and market questions in plain English, backed by the same live data the terminal runs on. Type a question, get one direct answer back in a few seconds. No dashboard, no tabs, no login.
Behind it are two separate lookups, chosen automatically based on what's asked. A question about a stock, option, or market event goes to a live data lookup: quotes, options IV, ownership, rankings and more. A question about OpticAlpha itself, pricing, or a glossary term like "what is gamma exposure" is answered from the site's own pages instead, with a link back to where it came from. Neither path guesses. A live-data question gets a real number from a real lookup, and a site question gets an answer sourced from an actual page, never invented.
It's deliberately narrow. There's no conversation history and no follow-up context between questions. One question in, one factual answer out, and no investment advice attached to it.

About OpticAlpha

How traders use this
Mostly as a shortcut, not a replacement for the terminal. A quick "what's AAPL's IV rank" before deciding whether to sell premium is faster typed into the chat than opened in a new tab, especially from a phone. The terminal is still where a trader goes to actually work a position across multiple tickers at once. The chat is for the one-off question in between.
It also doubles as a low-friction way to check whether OpticAlpha actually covers something before signing up: ask it a real question about a ticker you follow and see whether the answer holds up, no account required.
Terms on this page
- IV rank / IV percentile
- Where a stock's current implied volatility sits versus its own trailing range. Near the top of the range (high rank/percentile) is typically when option premium is richest.
- Days to cover
- How many trading days it would take, at average volume, for every short seller to buy back their position. A rough gauge of squeeze risk.
- Dividend growth streak
- The number of consecutive years a company has raised its dividend, used to separate steady growers from stocks that simply pay a high yield today.
- Earnings beat ratio
- How far a company's reported results came in above (or below) analyst estimates, expressed as a ratio rather than a raw dollar figure so companies of different sizes compare directly.
- Source-cited answer
- For a question about the site or a glossary term, the answer links back to the actual page it was drawn from. Never guessed or paraphrased from memory.
Questions traders ask
Do I need an account to use it?
No. The chat bubble is open to anyone on the site, free, with no login and no card. The terminal itself still needs the free trial; the chat is a separate, always-open door into the same live data.
Is this a general chatbot, or does it actually pull real data?
It pulls real data. A question about a stock, option, or market event is matched to one of the terminal's own live lookups (quotes, options IV, ownership, rankings, and more) and answered from that result, not from the model's own memory. A question about OpticAlpha itself, pricing, or a glossary term is answered from the site's own pages instead. Never live market data for those.
What if it can't find a good match for my question?
It says so rather than guessing. Off-topic questions get redirected toward stock and market topics; a market question that doesn't match any available lookup gets a short list of what it can answer instead of a made-up response.
Does it give investment advice?
No. Answers state what the data shows, never what to do about it. No buy or sell calls, no price predictions, nothing framed as a recommendation.
Is there a limit on how many questions I can ask?
A shared daily limit exists to keep the free chat sustainable, shown as a small counter once you start a conversation. It resets at 00:00 UTC. Hitting it is rare at normal usage; it's there to stop automated abuse, not to ration real visitors.
